Verify incoming data

After installing the script, the next step is making sure ClickSight is actually receiving usable data. This guide walks you through a simple verification process.

Getting started

What to expect after installation

Once the script is working, ClickSight should begin receiving page views and session data from your website visitors.

Step by step

  • A fresh session should appear after you visit the website and browse a few pages.
  • The dashboard should eventually move out of setup mode once real traffic is detected.
  • Events and heatmaps may take a little longer than the first session to become useful because they need interactions to occur.

How to create a test session yourself

The fastest way to verify the setup is to act like a real visitor on your own site.

How to confirm ClickSight is receiving data

Use a combination of the dashboard, sessions page, and browser DevTools.

Step by step

  • Check whether a new session appears in the Sessions area.
  • Open the browser Network tab and confirm the ClickSight collect requests return success.
  • If event tracking is enabled, also confirm the event ingestion request returns success and the Events page starts updating.
